Capturing the likeness of people through Portrait Photography
Portrait photography is all about getting the right picture of a person or a group of them under the direction of a portrait photographer. Portrait photography is usually shot in order to be displayed such as the typical traditional family portrait which usually involves the shooting of the whole family or clan from all generations. If you noticed this type of picture, the smiles on everyone would be very similar which is directed by the photographer so as to capture the perfect picture. However, this would just be a mask to the real personality of each individual in the picture. Fortunately, nowadays, portrait photography has placed a more importance on the natural expressions of the individuals, so as to bring out the true personality of the individual (s). These pictures would look so natural that you won’t realize that the photographer has no relation with that particular individual, or in other words a stranger. This is usually being brought about by creative budding portrait photographers, who are able to capture the fun essence of a person and bring it out through the pictures taken.
The key to getting extraordinary portrait pictures is to not act natural but be natural, or rather be who you really are. Previous portrait photography for the past few decades have often portrayed static images, some even having matching outfits, with a similar plastic smile on all the faces of the individuals involved and a rigid body following the instructions of the photographer. This may be the perfect picture as everyone may be wearing their best and smiling their best but this is not brings out who they really are as individuals.
Modern portrait photography has now taken an uplift by incorporating more natural scenes depicting regular daily life to be able to bring out the true person behind those pictures. A good portrait photographer will have the skills to know how to truly make you shine through those photos to capture priceless emotions and personalities within a couple of shots of a picture.
